At the last meeting we talked about uploading the brochure so people could make some comments and help fine-tune some of the text, particularly regarding our goals. Hopefully you can see the images here clearly enough.

Fitness Challenge

We have been unable to get a commitment from the fitness centers to help us raise money for Hearthstone. I think it would be a great project for us to do after the first of the year. Lisa, would that be something we could have on the website? We could get people to sign up for a Biggest Loser type of event or exercise and get sponsors where the money would go to the Center. Maybe the winner could win a membership to Hearthstone?

Just brainstorming, give it some thought.

Name tags for board members

I forgot to mention this at the meeting on Monday, but I thought that it might be a good idea to have nametags made for the board members. We cannot always wear our Age Well shirts. A name tag would create interest when we are at Chamber Meetings or other community events. I have attended a wide variety of different functions lately including two Alzheimer's Association Walks. Since I am representing my company when I am attending an event, I need to wear my Oaks nametag, but I could wear an Age Well nametag as well. I am sure that would attract some interest from folks wondering why I have on two nametags! It is just a thought... The magnetic nametags cost about $5 or $6. Thanks!

October 2008 Meeting

At our meeting we decided to have two workdays in November. Hands on Forsyth is unable to do as much for our seniors as they have in the past so we are stepping in to help. On Saturday November 15 and again on the 22nd we will meet at the Senior Center with happy hearts, willing spirits and whatever else Shelley wants us to bring. Family, friends, neighbors and anyone else are invited. Please pick a date or two, I imagine we are looking at a 9 to noon timeframe. I will be there on the 22nd but not on the 15th as I will be out of town. Wear your AgeWell shirts over your long underwear, if you do not have an AgeWell shirt please stop by the Center, if you do not have long underwear, see Walmart! Shelley will pick a senior or two depending on who is coming for us to go and lend a hand, rake, clean, whatever.

Also, remember the wreaths and silent auction. Wreaths (silk) are to be donated to the center by the 14th for the silent auction the week of the 17th. We will take pictures and set up a board at the library for publicity and Shelley will see if she can get something in the paper. Please spread the word and help if you can.

We have set a goal of January 31, 2009 to have our trifold done, the business cards available, the website updated to accept payments. An example would be to have pictures of the wreaths there and someone could bid online, WOW!

Thank you to all of you that showed up for the ribbon cutting on a very chilly day!

Our November meeting is Monday November 24th and the December format will be a potluck supper at 6 on the 15th of December, sign up to follow so think of which of your favorite dishes you want to prepare.

Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication to AgeWell. We have a fabulous group and amazing direction from Shelley.

Best regards,
Barbara

PS Please take a look at our Blog, it was suggested that we converse on there regarding revisions to our marketing materials, meetings etc. Let me know if you have any problems with it.

Golf Tournament Update

We had a meeting last Thursday to discuss the golf tournament. We DO have sponsors but the disheartening news is that we do not have golfers. It was decided to place an ad in the Forsyth paper but due to time restrainst we were not able to get that done. We have decided to see if we get registrations in this week and all need to make a push to make this happen. I am meeting with Hampton today to talk about the possibility of cancelling the tournament. In the meantime keep up the great work and we will be in touch this week,

Golf tournament

I have included the final version of the Sponsor document, please vote yea or nea so I can finalzie and send to all of you to get working on our sponsors!! I will also send the registration brochure shortly and once you vote yes on that I will ask (beg) Ray to help us with it like he did on the preliminary.

WE ARE ALL going to have to help with sponsorships. I have asked Kim Murphy with Automation Directo to spearhead this committee but Jackie is not going to be able to assist with us. Please keep her in your prayers.

I will be meeting with the PGA store in the next week or so to see if they can help us.

We not only need sponsors big and little, sign sponsors, golfers, door prizes big and small.

Lisa would you please see if you can give us all a "mission" for our elevator speech.

We need an article in the paper introducing AgeWell and Brandrave. Diane will you and Ann please coordinate this with Shelley and also see where you can get this event posted online, in the paper, etc? Lisa will you please assist in writing this?

Lori will you and Lyle please do a geographic map (not complex) of Forsyth so we can divide it up among all of us to start asking for sponsors. I any of you have a particular place you want to visit please let Kim know as she is going to track the sponsors for us.

Lynn I would like you to take signage when the time gets closer as well as bags if we get a sponsor to do them.

I will be working with Hampton and will keep you abreast of new devlopments.

Sonia at the Center Senior will also be helping with sponsors. Shelley and the staff at the Center will send out our sponsor brochure and letter to all the attendees of the Senior Expo but we will need to follow up with them. Kim please assign us all some of these companies.

Joanne will you please head up the day of the event committee to make sure we are all assigned tasks that day.

Robert we miss you and ready for you to jump in with us, just let me know when. I would like to go hit the Chamber, Rotary etc.

I know there are more things so please convey them to me ASAP.

I have added this email to our BLOG, and will keep other updates there as well.
Thanks in advance for hitting the ground running on this
PS WE ALL need to bring golfers

BrandRave Assignment

AGEWELL FORSYTHBrand PositioningIdentity Concepts
WHO WE ARE
THE SITUATION
AgeWell Forsyth is an organization set up to help seniors live actively in the community by providing an outlet for seniors who remain active and who like to socialize and explore other areas life has to offer.
Basically, AgeWell tries to evoke a "never to late" mentality. They support all levels of functionality and also act as a support network within the community of seniors.
THE GOAL
AgeWell Forsyth is looking to establish an identity not only for their group, but for the people who use their services at the Forsyth County Senior Center.
Instead of being labeled Senior Citizens - seniors who use their services would like to be labeled something else that evokes a more positive and empowering lifestyle.
THE APPROACH
THE COUNCIL
Engaging. Inspiring. Empowering.
Making connections. Engaging experiences.
THE FOUNDATION
Enabling Inspiration
Growth by Inspiration
THE APPROACH
THE COUNCIL:
an assembly of persons summoned or convened for consultation, deliberation, or advice.

Concept: SEE the Forest for the trees.
Connections with many diverse people through engaging experiences that AgeWell would provide. The illustration style is modern, yet would appeal to all age groups.
Concept: The tree of empowerment.
A fun and youthful creative solution that illustrates AgeWell as a source of empowerment and inspiration.
THE APPROACH
THE FOUNDATION:
the basis or groundwork of anything: the moral foundation of both society and religion. the state of being founded.

Concept: What’s inspiration?
This illustration would represent the strength of the tree trunk and branches reaching out to others. The mountains in the background symbolize strength and inspiration - also the Georgia foothills of the community.
Concept: it all starts with a seed.
This photo realistic representation is an elegant and sophisticated approach that tells the story of "Growth by Inspiration". The acorn speaks to AgeWell as a new but growing organization. When provided the necessary attention and nutrients, the organization will foster inspiration and knowledge related to the subject matter.
We are here to help.
